Obscure Movie Stars

I wasn't sure what I wanted to write about today, but I think this will be a little whimsical. Who is your favorite "obscure" movie star? It could be someone who still acts, doesn't act, a former star, someone who doesn't do much acting anymore, child star, adult star, alive, dead, your choice!

Here's some of my favorites I figured I would bring up!
Denise Nickerson - otherwise known as Violet Beauregarde from the Original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! Denise Nickerson played the gum-chomping Violet Beauregarde in the movie, best known for the scene where she blows up into a giant blueberry. She played repeatedly as a child on Dark Shadows, however, Nickerson is best known for her role in Willy Wonka. After Wonka, she continued on as a child actor, appearing on The Electric Company and also an episode of the Brady Bunch. She lives in Colorado and works as an accountant today

Peter Ostrum otherwise known as Charlie Baker from the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. As the main child character in the movie, Peter Ostrum was wonderful as Charlie and although offered a 3 movie deal, he turned the offer down and never made another movie. He went on to graduate from Cornell and today he's a veterinarian (specializing in cattle and horses) and lives in New York.

Mitch Gaylord first thrilled the world in 1984 when he led the United States Olympic gymnastics team to its Gold Medal victory. In addition to being the first American Gymnast in history to score a perfect “10,” Mitch invented two skills now named internationally after him, the Gaylord Flip and the Gaylord Two, and they are considered to be among the most difficult and spectacular feats in gymnastics. In 1986, Mitch made his acting debut in “American Anthem” and went on to appear in several commercials. In 2006, he was inducted into the US Olympic Hall of Fame. His passion for health and wellness led to his founding of Mitch Gaylord’s Gold Medal Fitness and the creation of the Perfect 10 Workout.

I was actually lucky enough to meet Mitch Gaylor at a VSDA convention in Las Vegas many years ago. He was very sweet, shy and very kind to everyone who wanted their autographs.

Who is it that you think is obscure today...
