Hurry up already!

OMG! One of these days I am going to scream when it happens again! You get a request yesterday and today they are following up to find out why you haven't completed it, really? When did it become an EXPECTATION that you would deliver within a 24 hour period of time? Goodness knows that when you respond back, very kindly of course (LOL), that any deadlines should be mentioned in the original email, it is met with a higher ranking manager of the company saying they understand, but it really couldn't be helped and can you have it done in an hour! It is quite aggravating when this happens because "they" take no responsibility in being utterly unreasonable in their demands! And of course, if you say anything to the contrary, you become labelled as "difficult" and "not a team player"!! So, so, so, so, frustrating!

I can't recall how many times I've had to stay well past the time to go home when I've made plans to get things done. How many dinners I have missed and eaten at 10pm because of things that needed to get done. And  how about going home and still working on your laptop until almost 11pm because of things that need to get done. Corporate America really needs to start learning that people do have a breaking point. We are not automatons - we are not robots - we have feelings and need to be valued and not just when it is convenient and necessary. And then, to forget you at review time over and over again saying (monetarily) that you are not a "valuable" commodity that they need to invest their money into keeping! How frustrating!!!

Does this happen to you at all, often or repeatedly? If so, what do you do about it, especially when it comes down from on high???
