Really, jeans? I never thought I would blog about this topic, but here I go.
Yesterday at the store I went shopping for my first pair of jeans in easily 12 years. I was totally amazed at how many different variables are taken into account now when buying a pair. It used to be color, straight leg or bootcut and size...not anymore!
To start out with, there are 6 kinds of fit (now I'm talking women's jeans...so no comments if mens are different! LOL)
Fit 1/2 deal with jeans that come to just below your waist
Fit 3/4 deal with jeans that come mid-waist
Fit 5/6 deal with jeans that come to your hips only
So that is the fit...now the colors? They have every variation of blue, blue/black, black & then how about the pre-washed, non-washed, bleach look, ripped look, torn to shreds look, white, purple, gray, rust, green and colors I couldn't even think what to name them! Then the sizes - a Size and then "R", "L" and "S" - assuming they mean Regular, Long and Short (of course it doesn't say anywhere on the freakin' label!!) Then they come in straight, bootcut & skinny...assuming that is the cut of the legs (and of course this isn't anywhere either!!)
I have never had to try on so many pairs of pants in my life to find a size, style, color and brand to fit my shape. In some respects, I think it is a good thing because manufacturers have finally realized that all women are not built alike and that some are curvy, some are straight, some have high waists and some have low waists. Some like really tight "skinny" jeans and some like them rounder and more loosely fitting.
I must say coming into this all brand new and not understanding this ahead of time, I spent almost 2 hours in the store to find one pair of jeans that I could wear. Well, I have a pair of jeans now and I'm happy about it...I just hope the next time will not be such a high learning curve! LOL
So what has been your challenge to shop for something you haven't bought in a long time?
Thanks for listening...
