Skype ROCKS!!

I spent the most amazing 1 hour and 4 minutes (yes, exactly) on VIDEO SKYPE with a GREAT and beautiful friend who resides in AZ last night! It was the first time I had my camera on my PC up and working and she could see me sitting in my chair as we talked and talked and talked...It is funny, I have felt like I knew her all my life when we met and became friends. We both joined a support group for weight loss online in a virtual community and we became fast and great friends! More than a year later, we have grown close, we text each other every day and we try to talk as often as possible. Just recently we have added the Video Skype to the mix.

I think it is awesome, I have just introduced my mother to having it. We set it up on her new laptop and she's already got 2 people on her contacts list: me, and my brother who resides in the 'burg...She'll be able to Video Skype with any of us and when I go on vacation and finally MEET my beautiful virtual sister (by a different mother) in AZ, I'll be able to Video Skype her from my vacation and that is just so awesome! I remember way back when all of the sci-fi shows I've watched, they had "vid-phones" and now, if you think about it, they are REAL and we can use them now! All you need is a cheapo camera and an internet connection and "voila"! There you are, able to keep in touch seeing your friend, sister, uncle, brother, father, mother, anyone you care about as if they are sitting in front of you!

Technology is my passion, my burning desire, my great joy and I love, love, love new and interesting ways to make things happen, easier, AND more enjoyable in my life! The addition of the Video Skype has really added a new dimension to how I view things now. There is nothing that is too far away anymore. Technology, simplicity and fun are no longer only available to those who are rich enough to afford them along with those who have the know-how to implement them. With the advent of the internet and the information sharing that is available via the internet in this new evolving universe we live in, it is inconceivable not to take advantage of these wonderful tools and get into the 21st Century! How awesome is the world we live in today where we can jump through an internet connection and be able to video chat across the world, across the country, or just around the corner.
